Nadine Lustre admitted in a new interview what caused her to "lose it" after reading Ricky Lo's article about her separation with James Reid in January.

The actress stated she didn't mind the breakup article, but she didn't like the showbiz journalist referencing her brother Isaiah, who allegedly committed himself in 2017. "That story by Ricky Lo suggested James is softening the breakup or taking things slowly since I'm psychologically unstable. That's when I lost it since he named my brother in the article. The article about the split was great for me. It didn't bother me. But it was when he brought up mental illness and my brother that he crossed the line." "What my brother went through, it wasn't a joke," Nadine, who has been outspoken about her depression, stated. " I can’t even imagine what was going through his head when that was happening to him. Until now, I still wish that I pushed him a little bit more so that he opened up to me and I could’ve helped him and done something… But now I’m more concerned about the people who are actually going through it and need people to lean on.”

"James is handling the breakup with care to cushion the impact on Nadine, who has admitted grappling with mental illness," Lo wrote in the print copy of the column headed "JaDine breakup: A case of too much, too soon?" according to ABS-CBN. In the print publication, Lo also addressed Nadine's brother's death.

When the article came out, Nadine fired back on IG Stories: "You think you know so much [about] me, but you can’t even get my last name right. ANU NA, 2020 NA!”. She was referring to being wrongly identified as Nadine Samonte in the print caption.

Nadine and James confirmed their breakup in January, just one month before their fourth anniversary.
